The Carling at 31 W. Adams St. was “Special Event Central” Thursday morning while the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office and the Secret Service were awaiting the arrival of former President George W. Bush. He had lunch with some of the local Republican faithful to raise funds for his Presidential Library in Dallas. Other than prohibiting civilians from parking on two blocks around the building for most of the day, Downtown’s routine was only disrupted while Bush was actually onsite.
