• A drive by the Berkman Plaza II building during the last few weeks has provided glimpses of work being done on the property. Scaffolding has come down and an office trailer has been removed, but according to sales broker Nancy Malloy: “They are just out there cleaning up around the property.” Malloy hasn’t been notified regarding a timeline when construction will resume.
• Harold Tool will succeed Tommy Douglas Sunday as the 2010 Players Championship chairman. Tool is the first vice chair this year and he’s an accountant with PPR Health.
• Speaking of The Players, the grounds operation crew plays an annual trick on all the vice chairmen by hiding something on the course that doesn’t belong. Objects in the past have included a string of golf balls painted green and hung in a tree and a pink flamingo stuck in the pink azaleas. Each day the crew gives a hint as to where the object is and as of Tuesday the object was somewhere on holes 1-5. They have never made it to Sunday without finding the object.
