How did you get involved?
When we moved to Jacksonville from New York in 2006, we wanted to become involved in an organization that supports the local community, and a colleague recommended Community Connections. I learned about Community Connections’ housing, education and daycare programs that support Jacksonville’s women and children while taking a tour of a few sites with our Executive Director Pat Hannan, and I was hooked.
How can someone else get involved?
Call me, or our volunteer coordinator Donna O’Steen, at 353-2000. We will find something that you will enjoy.
What have you learned/achieved through the experience?
Jacksonville has a lot of people who enjoy making our city a better place for people who need a boost to get through difficult times. I don’t regret a minute or a penny I have spent, and have been fortunate to make some good friends along the way.
What was the last book you read or are reading?
“How-To-Win Trial” manual by Judge Ralph Adam Fine; up next is Sally Jenkins’ “Funny Cide.”
