Jailed but entitled to more than one phone call

Larry Mims, managing director for MPS Group Parker & Lynch, was just one of about 250 community leaders who were “locked up” in the name of helping the local chapter of the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Volunteers who were served with “arrest warrants” spent an hour Thursday at Jacksonville Municipal Stadium calling friends to raise “bail” for their release, with all the proceeds benefiting the nonprofit organization. The goal for the entire campaign, according to Project Coordinator Brittany Duke-Anthony, was to raise $150,000. Roar of the Jaguars cheerleaders Kayla Sharp (left) and Monica Womack were also there to cheer on the participants as they made as many phone calls as they wished.
