PAST EXPERIENCE

Wright worked as a sales associate for the Yacht Clubs of the Americas selling boat slips on Heckscher Drive for less than a year. Are dry boat slips considered real estate? Yes, says Wright: “Boat slips are considered a Fee Simple real estate.”

Wright has a history in marine management. She worked for Hornblower Marine Services for four years. “They operate the Mayport Ferry. I did their marketing and their administration work.” She was promoted and had to move to Virginia for several months.

When she came back from Virginia, she wanted to get into something related to real estate, but was used to a salaried position.

“I wasn’t ready to take that plunge. I sought out an opportunity with (the Downtown Jacksonville condo) Berkman Plaza as an assistant manager and got it. That was my first little touch of real estate. It was that that made me decide I really wanted to do this.”

She then earned her real estate license and went to work at Rosewood Homes. “It was the best thing I’ve ever done. I’ve found my passion.” After Rosewood, she was a site agent at Arthur Rutenberg Homes for two and a half years.

THE COMPANY

JW is actually short for Jason White, son of Howard White, the former owner of North Florida Builders. “Jason actually started sweeping out his father’s homes when he was 14. He got out of school and started working with his father. He started from the dirt up and learned all the facets of home building.

When North Florida Builders sold to Woodside Homes, he worked there for about three years before opening his own custom home business.”

BEST ADVICE

“Be prepared for anything. You’ll never know the answer to every question in real estate. But, you can find the answer and get back to them.”

HER ADVICE

“Be patient. Be willing to work hard. It’s not just sitting at the house waiting for people to come. You got to go out there and meet people, meet Realtors and talk about your company. You need to be excited about your product and the company you work for.

“Listen well and be patient. Everyone is on their own timetable. But, be there. Don’t give up. If you call them three times and they don’t call you back, don’t let them off, just adjust your calling schedule. Let them know you are there and keep them informed until they say they are no longer interested.”
