Community involvement

In addition to serving my church as a deacon and part-time lay staff member (Director of Adult Ministries) and organizing and participating in its Acts of Service and Kindness (ASK) Outreach community service ministry, I also help organize the Christian Legal Society’s Pro Bono Project, a legal clinic ministry for residents of the City Rescue Mission. This ministry has involved over 40 local lawyers and 30 law students in serving close to 500 City Rescue Mission residents in the past eight years.

How did you get involved?

I happened to be the CLS chapter president when one of our members was led of the Holy Spirit to pursue this ministry. The chapter was excited about “putting flesh to our faith” and serving others through the love of Christ. I have maintained the “directorship” of the Pro Bono Project and have been blessed to work with many fine lawyers through it.

How can someone else get involved?

Send an inquiry to [email protected] and I will gladly give you information so that you may consider participating.

What have you learned/achieved through the experience?

We have helped many folks who previously lived highly productive, successful lives. But for the grace of God, my life could make the same unexpected turn.

What was the last book you read or are reading?

“Llama, Llama, Red Pajama.” With three young boys, our house is chock full of such literature.
