• If you’ve missed being able to get off or on at the Riverplace Station Skyway terminal on the Southbank, take heart. According to JTA the structure that was destroyed by fire March 11 will reopen by Oct. 31 in time for the Florida-Georgia weekend.

• Christmas is a long way off, but the Florida Lottery has started producing $1 “Holiday Cash” scratch-off tickets.

• Christina Langston, public relations manager for the City’s Office of Special Events, ran the Marine Corps Half Marathon over the weekend and finished in about 1:51. The race started at the stadium and ended in Metropolitan Park after winding through Downtown and Riverside and over two bridges.

• VyStar Credit Union is collecting old cell phones through Thursday. The bank will donate the phones to Hubbard House. Branches throughout the area have prominently displayed signs and collection boxes.

• Due to a scheduling conflict, Marianne Faithfull has postponed her performance scheduled for Oct. 21 at the Florida Theatre until Jan. 16. Ticket refunds or trades for the new show date are available at the place of purchase. For more information call 355-2787 or visit www.floridatheatre.com.

• Having a ball: The first Tri-base Navy Birthday Ball to honor the 234th birthday of the Navy is Saturday, with more than 800 Navy personnel scheduled to attend. The birthday bash starts at 6 p.m.

• The 8th Annual Oyster Roast to benefit St. Johns Riverkeeper has a date and time, as the annual fundraiser will be at the Garden Club in Riverside Nov. 20 at 7 p.m. The event includes a silent auction and live music, with tickets at $125 or $75 if 35 years old or younger.
