D.W. Perkins Bar to honor Perry, judges

The D.W. Perkins Bar Foundation will honor Florida Supreme Court Justice James E.C. Perry and all Jacksonville area state and federal judges during a judicial reception at the University Club Wednesday.

Named after one of the first African-Americans to practice law in Duval County, the Daniel Webster Perkins Bar Foundation has been a proponent for positive change to improve the plight of African-Americans and erase discrimination.

The judicial reception will honor all the area, state and federal judges, with Florida Supreme Court Justice E.C. Perry as its guest. Perry was appointed to the Florida Supreme Court by Gov. Charlie Crist in March, following positions as a circuit judge of Florida’s Eighteenth Judicial Circuit and later Chief Judge of the Circuit for a two-year term.

The event is Wednesday from 5:30–7:30 p.m. on the 27th floor of the University Club, 1301 Riverplace Blvd.,with tickets costing $25 per person and complimentary for members of the judiciary.
