How did you get involved?

In the early 1990s, I participated in building a house with the Jacksonville Bar. It was such a great experience to work with fellow Bar members and the families earning their “sweat equity” that I was hooked. Since then I have worked through St. Mark’s Church at either building homes or enlisting volunteers.

How can someone else get involved?

Call HabiJax at 208-6676. They build homes year-round.

What have you learned/achieved through the experience?

I spent a day in August putting a roof on a house with someone and that’s a day and a friend I’ll never forget.

What was the last book you read or are reading?

“How to Build a House” by Habitat for Humanity.
