It was the beginning of a new year filled with some new faces at the lead in a new locale recently for the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association.
The group held its first meeting of the year at the River Club atop the Modis building, a change from its old River City Brewing Company locale, and began the year with a topic officials wanted to emphasize in the coming year: networking and membership.
“We’re all very excited about the year,” said President Mary Scott of Joseph & Marees, presiding over her first meeting.
To further the message, the organization had speakers Harold Tool, 2010 chair of The Players, and Neera Shetty, assistant general counsel for the PGA Tour, talk networking strategies along with volunteering opportunities and changes at the upcoming golf tournament.
“Any time you can come out into the community and tell your story, it’s great,” said Tool, “but it’s especially community leaders like these.”
The next JWLA meeting is Nov. 11 with guest speaker and JWLA founding member Barbara Bost McGriff.
