The pouring and forming of pile caps, columns and vertical shafts is underway at the new Duval County Courthouse. The second tower crane has arrived as well. The updated construction has the southern lane of Duval Street fenced off for the duration of the project. It will become a one-lane street.
When construction on the Courthouse is finished, it will have:
• seven stories
• 51 courtrooms
• 800,000 square feet of space
• capacity for 64 judges’ office space
• capacity for holding space of 1,200 defendants
• sustainable elements including thermal windows, recycled materials, regional materials and more efficient water and sewer systems
• it will be LEED certified
