Florida Theatre getting facelift

The sidewalk on the south side of Forsyth Street in front of the Florida Theatre is closed due to a major renovation project. In addition to restoring the 85-year-old marble on the front of the building, the sidewalk is also being replaced. It will soon become a Hollywood-style “Walk of Fame” complete with stars recognizing supporters of the theater over the years. The $200,000 project will be unveiled at a special ceremony Sept. 21 just before Smokey Robinson goes on stage at 8 p.m.
