Rain doesn’t dampen Art Walk spirits

The rain clouds were heavy and rain sporadic, so the people took it inside during Wednesday’s monthly Art Walk event.

Feature events included: Former Jaguars Dave Widell and Tom McManus were at The Carling and 11E, respectively, to sign autographs; the grand opening of barber shop Tonsor at The Carling; a car show at the Florida Theatre honoring the life of the late George Wolfe, a former Downtown business owner; the kickoff of the second annual “Beach Days!” at the Landing; and the first peek for many at Visit Jacksonville in its new digs at the Greenleaf Building.

For one family, it was their first Art Walk and the night left them coming away impressed.

“I think it’s pretty cool,” said Samir Maignan, who attended Wednesday evening’s event with his sons Joshua Theagene and Justin. “It’s exactly what this city needs.”
