The Museum of Contemporary Art’s permanent collection displays some truly fascinating and unique pieces of art. The collection contains, paintings, sculpture, mixed-media and more. This piece in particular certainly demands one’s full attention.

The sculpture is titled “Canoptic Legerdemain” and was created by artist Nancy Graves in 1990. It encompasses several different components and materials such as stainless steel, aluminum mesh, cast resin, cast paper, aluminum panels, cast epoxy with sand and marble dust and a color lithograph.

Susan Platt, art historian, suggests the piece displays Graves’ exploration and interest in art, nature and different science systems.
