Barber Joe Berardino mans the scissors and clippers at “Tonsor,” his shop at 31 W. Adams St. on the ground floor of The Carling. Originally from New York, Berardino has been practicing the tonsorial arts since 1975. He credits his career to a family friend who was a barber and told Berardino if he would learn the trade, he would never have to look for a job. The full-service shop is open Monday-Friday from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. and Berardino offers a 20 percent discount for police officers and firefighters. “Walk-ins are welcome but appointments are appreciated,” said Berardino.
