• Giselle Carson, Tad Delegal, Braxton Gillam and Troy K. Smith are seeking re-election to the Jacksonville Bar Association’s Board of Governors. Mike Freed is running unopposed for president-elect. Also, Fraz Ahmed, Rose Marie Preddy and Jodi Seitlin are seeking election for the first time as is Kirby Oberdorfer, who is a member of the Board by virtue of being president of the Young Lawyers Section. According to JBA President Dan Bean, there are five open seats.

• University of Florida Law Professor Lee F. Tritt, who is from Jacksonville, earned his second consecutive “Law Professor of the Year” award through a vote of the student body at the Levin College of Law. Through the current year, Tritt has taught “Estates and Trusts,” “Estate Planning” and “Fiduciary Administration.”

• Speaking of the UF Law School, it was ranked No. 47 in U.S. News and World Report’s list of “Best Law Schools,” the best ranking of top tier law schools in the state. It also ranked No. 24 among public law schools. Yale was the top law school and was followed by Harvard. Other SEC schools on the list include Vanderbilt (No. 17), Georgia (No. 28) and Alabama (No. 38).

• The excitement and hype may be building as the Jaguars prepare for draft day, but the first opportunity for fans to see new players on the field will be at minicamp at the Jaguars’ practice field next to the stadium. It will be held May 1-3 and sessions on Saturday and Sunday will be open to the public.

• Speaking of the Jaguars, you can keep track of the team’s moves through social media Twitter (jaguarsinsider) and Facebook.

• The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens will host “Party for the Planet-Earth Day” from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 24-25 both days. Guests can learn how they can take care of the planet by visiting environmental and animal conservation booths from organizations including Florida Fish and Wildlife, JEA, St. Johns Riverkeeper, N.E. Florida Aquatic Preserves and more. Live entertainment, animal encounters, prize drawings and visits from Zoo mascot Jazoo will also be a part of the event. Guests can receive $2 off admission with five pounds of paper or any electronic waste (items powered by batteries or electricity) to be recycled.

• Episcopal High School is expanding its campus with two new halls totaling nearly 26,000 square feet. The halls are being funded by contributions from alumni, the community and faculty and staff and will be named for the Lastinger family and Nancy Parks and her late husband, Rev. Dr. Bob Parks. Delores Lastinger is a former Episcopal teacher and her husband, Allen, is a former CEO of Barnett Banks. The late Rev. Dr. Bob Parks was a leader of the Episcopal Diocese of Florida and a founder of the school. The construction will be commemorated with a cornerstone-laying ceremony at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
