Public Defender Matt Shirk, a member of the second graduating class at Florida Coastal School of Law, has joined the school’s alumni board of directors.
“Florida Coastal School of Law is a tremendous asset to Jacksonville,” said Shirk, who oversees the Fourth Judicial Circuit. “It is a very young institution but has made dramatic improvements over the last decade. I am proud to be a member of the ‘99 graduating class at FCSL and likewise am honored to have this opportunity play a role in its continual strive for excellence. I eagerly join fellow alumni on the Board and look forward to helping make a difference for our local law school.”
According to the FCSL Alumni Association, the Alumni Board of Directors is committed to “furthering the mission and goals of Florida Coastal School of Law and continually working to enhance alumni opportunities to socialize and network. Their work also helps the school improve the educational experience for its students. The positive impression created by the improvements in curriculum, facility, faculty, and staff are resulting in a larger, more competitive pool of applicants. In turn, the quality of students and graduates is attracting a greater number of prospective employers.”
Attorney Michael F. Orr, who currently serves as president of the board, congratulated Shirk on his recent appointment.
“We are honored to have such a talented individual serve in this capacity,” he said.
