Profile: State Sen. Tony Hill
A Democrat, he represents District 1, which encompasses Downtown and parts of Arlington, Northwest Jacksonville, and the I-95 corridor in Duval County. His district stretches south through St. Johns, Flagler and into Volusia counties, mostly along the I-95 corridor.
Election History
Elected to the Senate in 2002, defeating current City Council member Denise Lee, with 86 percent of the vote and subsequently re-elected. Served as Democratic Floor Leader from 2002-04, Minority Lead Whip from 2004-06 and 2006-08, and Minority Whip, 2008-2010.
Family
Wife, Patricia; four children, Anthony C. Jr., Cicely, Tiffany and Eryn; and four grandchildren, Shawn Green, Dari’elle Pates, Justice Robinson and Raekwon Robinson.
Education
Earned a bachelor’s in Labor Studies from National Labor College.
