How did you get involved?
Following graduation, while seeking employment, I wanted to be using my skills and knowledge to begin helping others right away. I contacted JALA to inquire about volunteer opportunities within the organization. I had previously completed internships within the family law field and had a great desire to continue helping families in need.
How can someone else get involved?
Through researching your areas of interest and seeing what volunteer opportunities are available. JALA is a great source for volunteering in the legal community, but there are many other outreach programs that could benefit from active volunteers.
What have you learned/achieved through the experience?
I have learned a great deal through both my pro bono work as well as through my employment. I believe that I have become more compassionate toward those who are struggling through difficult times and need good support and guidance.
What was the last book you read or are reading?
“Erak’s Ransom” by John Flanagan
