There was no ship docked at the Jacksonville Port Authority cruise ship terminal, but 320 people were still “Going Places.”
The theme of the Northeast Florida Chapter of Women in Transportation’s fashion show and fundraising event was “Going Places” and it featured “models” from the shipping industry sporting the latest in fall fashions from Stein Mart and Phil’s Shoes.
“The event helps bring our organization to the attention of businesses in the transportation industry,” said Maria Garvey, president of the local chapter.
“Our organization is new, we began two years ago, so it is a great way to get the name out there and raise money to give women the opportunity to pursue careers in transportation,” she said.
The local chapter’s special events chair, Linda Rowe, was the chair of the event.
“It’s a great time for a good cause, and we get a lot of support from the transportation and logistics communities,” said Rowe.
The event raised an estimated $8,000.
