The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation donated an automated external defibrillator Tuesday to Volunteers in Medicine, which provides free primary care medical services to the working uninsured. The donated defibrillator can be used if a patient in the Volunteers in Medicine Clinic goes into cardiac arrest. Taking part in the donation event at the San Marco Firehouse Subs were (from left) Jeff Matthews with Volunteers in Medicine, Robin Peters with the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, Dr. Jim Burt with VIM, Meghan Bender with the foundation, Reagan Alonso and Dr. Leo Alonso with VIM, and Eric Sorensen, Meg Rose, Karl Bednar, Roy Petter and Kristen Madjanics, all with Firehouse Subs. The foundation also donated five defibrillators to the Camden County Fire Department in support of the Andrew Cohn AED Project in honor of Andrew Cohn, who died of sudden cardiac arrest in May at the age of 15 when a collision with another baseball player disrupted his heartbeat.
