There are only a few days remaining to view “East/West: Visually Speaking,” the feature exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art. The exhibit closes at 4 p.m. Sunday at the conclusion of Bank of America Family Free Day.

The exhibit is a collection of works by Chinese artists who work in a variety of media, including painting, sculpture, embroidery and video and have been influenced by Western culture and commerce.

“Contemporary Chinese artists are being inundated with Western culture. They are assimilating hundreds of years of art history that was unavailable during China’s Cultural Revolution,” said MOCA Curator Ben Thompson the day the exhibit opened in September.

The third floor gallery will be closed Monday while the museum staff takes down

”East/West” and prepares for the next feature exhibit, “The Art of Seating: 200 Years of American Design.” It’s a collection of functional sculpture in the form of chairs. The exhibit opens to MOCA members Jan. 20 and to the public Jan. 21.
