The annual LEGO Competition at the Museum of Science & History is a chance for students in grades K-9 to learn about science, technology, engineering and mathematics while having some fun and competing for prizes.

Individuals or teams of 2-4 members may enter the competition, which is Jan. 15 at the museum on the Southbank. Participants must provide their own LEGOs, Megablocks or other compatible plastic blocks and accessory pieces.

Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the building begins at 9:30 a.m. Lunch is served at 11:30 a.m., followed by the awards ceremony in the Bryan-Gooding Planetarium.

Each contestant will receive a commemorative T-shirt. Prize winners, selected by a panel of judges from the Jacksonville Chapter of the American Institute of Architects, will receive award ribbons and MOSH gift cards.

Registration is $20 per contestant. The cost for parents, siblings and chaperones is $5. The deadline for registration is Wednesday.

“Last year, registration filled up at the last minute and it looks like we’re on track to do the same thing again,” said MOSH Communications Manager Kristi Taylor.
