The Jacksonville Aviation Authority this week began construction on a temporary corridor at Jacksonville International Airport.

Workers will be visible in the corridor area where passengers will be required to pass on either side of the connector, avoiding the middle. The new corridor will connect the ticketing area with the atrium that leads to the security checkpoint and the airport’s two concourses.

During the first week of March, both sides of this connector will be closed off, and all passengers will then be directed through the temporary passageway until a new connector walkway is completed just prior to Thanksgiving.

“We ask that our customers bear with us during construction as we continue to improve the airport,” said Michael Stewart, director of external affairs for the JAA. “When this project is complete, travelers coming in and out of Jacksonville will enjoy a more spacious and modern facility.”

This project marks the final phase of recent improvements at JIA, including the newly constructed concourses A and C.
