The organization: The Northeast Florida Association of Realtors is a trade association of licensed Realtors and invited affiliate members in Duval, Clay, Putnam and Baker counties. It provides training and other education programs and oversees the Multiple Listing service. NEFAR also serves as the local lobbying arm of the real estate industry.
How she was selected: Nomination by a committee and elected by NEFAR members.
Meetings: The board meets at NEFAR’s main office each month. General membership meetings are held three or four times annually.
Andy Chambers
NEFBA
President/owner of Mastercraft Builder Group.
The organization: The Northeast Florida Builders Association is a not-for-profit trade association for members of the construction industry and invited affiliates that serves the Northeast Florida area. NEFBA provides its members education, training, networking, financial benefits and representation in government and community affairs.
How he was selected: A nominating committee proposes a slate of officers annually to the NEFBA board, which then elects the officers.
Meetings: NEFBA’s board meets on the third Wednesday of every month at the association’s headquarters on Century 21 Boulevard.
Melissa Mead Matthews
Jacksonville WCR
She is an agent with Mercedes Homes.
The organization: The Women’s Council of Realtors is a national organization and Matthews heads the Jacksonville affiliate. The chapter meets monthly to network and hear speakers of interest to the real estate industry. Despite the name, it is not a female-only organization.
How she was selected: A nominating committee presents a slate annually to the membership, which then elects.
Meetings: WCR has a luncheon meeting at San Jose Country Club, usually on the third Thursday of each month. The board meets on the second Monday of each month at the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors main office.
Mark Carlson
SMC
He is the owner of Carlson Capital Advisors, LLC.
The organization: The Sales and Marketing Council was founded in 1986 as the marketing arm of the Northeast Florida Builders Association and has grown to more than 500 members. There are monthly breakfast meetings with prominent speakers. SMC offers educational opportunities, hosts social activities and does charity fundraisers.
How selected: Carlson was elected four years ago over two other nominees to be one of the four officers and automatically has moved up each year.
Meetings: Second Friday of each month at the University Center of the University of North Florida.
Erik Sharpe
NAIOP
He is a vice president at Brasfield and Gorrie.
The organization: The National Association of Industrial Office Properties represents industrial and commercial real estate professionals and Sharpe heads the affiliate that serves Northeast Florida.
How he was selected: He served on the board and was elected as an officer by the membership, then moved up to president.
Meetings: NAIOP meets for various events several times a year, including charity functions.

Certified Commercial Investment Members (CCIM)
He is the president of Prudential Commercial Real Estate.
The organization: The mission of the North Florida Chapter is to provide marketing and networking opportunities, services, and education to enhance members’ ability to conduct business successfully.
How he was selected: Elected by the membership.
Meetings: Monthly training events or speakers at various locations.
Charles Pacetti
St.Augustine/St. Johns County Board of Realtors
He is the owner of Homestar Pacetti Realty Network.
The organization: The board is a trade association of licensed Realtors and invited affiliate members in St. Johns County. It provides training and other education programs and oversees the Multiple Listing Service. The board also serves as the local lobbying arm of the real estate industry.

Meetings: The board meets once a month at the board office and the organization meets for a breakfast meeting quarterly, also at the board office.

St. Augustine WCR
Agent with Re/Max Unlimited. The organization: The Women’s Council of Realtors is a national organization and Rich heads the St. Augustine affiliate. The chapter meets monthly to network and hear speakers of interest to the real estate industry. Despite the name, it is not a female-only organization.
How she was selected: She was elected by WCR membership as president-elect for 2006 and automatically moved up.
Meetings: Luncheon on first Thursday of every month at Carrabbas in St. Augustine.

She is an attorney with Lewis Longman & Walker.
The organization: The Commercial Real Estate Women of Jacksonville promotes the advancement of women in the commercial real estate industry by facilitating the exchange of information and ideas, providing a forum for the discussion of issues and providing educational programs.
How she was selected: Elected as president-elect last year by the membership and automatically moved up.
Meetings: Luncheons on first Tuesday of each month at the Maggiano’s Little Italy.
Sally Suslak
Downtown Council of Realtors
She is the broker of Traditions Realty, LLC.
The organization: DNCR began five years ago with Realtors working in the old city limits. They get together to network and review downtown projects.
Meetings: Luncheons at various sites on the third Wednesday of each month, except for November and December.
How selected: Appointed by NEFAR.
Brenda Horst
Ponte Vedra Council
She is the broker of Re/Max Unlimited.
The organization: The Ponte Vedra Council is made up of members of NEFAR who are involved in real estate in Ponte Vedra either as Realtors or as Affiliate members. The Council promotes networking, socializing, and promotion of their listings on caravan among the members. Quarterly meetings include speakers on subjects relevant to the industry.
How she was selected: Appointed by NEFAR.
Meetings: The council has quarterly meetings at one of the clubs in the Ponte Vedra area.
Anita Millar
St. Johns Council
She is the broker/owner of Royal Highlander Real Estate
The organization: The Council provides resources and networking for Realtors in St. Johns County.
How she was selected: She was the vice chair in 2009 and moved up to chair.
Meetings: The Council meets quarterly at the St. Johns Service Center in World Golf Village.
Billie Motz
Putnam Council
She is an agent with Watson Realty.
The organization: The council serves Realtors and invited affiliates in Putnam County with educational seminars and networking meetings.
How she was selected: She was appointed by NEFAR.
Meetings: Luncheons on the third Thursday of every month at 11:30 a.m. at the Ravine Gardens in Palatka.
Mandy Morrow
International Real Estate Council
She is an agent with Keller Williams Realty Atlantic Partners.
The organization: The council provides education to Realtors on how to deal with and handle clients of multiple ethnic characteristics. The organization’s Web site lists members who speak different languages and the names of those involved in related services, such as attorneys and financial consultants.
How she was selected: Appointed by NEFAR.
Meetings: Monthly, usually on the second Thursday, at NEFAR’s headquarters off Southside Blvd. The group tries to schedule meetings on the same day as new member orientations.
Marc Jernigan
Southwest Council
He is an agent with Watson Realty.
The organization: The Council is an affiliate of NEFAR which serves Realtors and invited affiliates in Clay County and western Duval County with educational seminars and networking meetings.
Meetings: The first Wednesday every month at their headquarters at 550 Wells Rd. at 9:30 a.m. They also meet throughout the year for breakfast meetings with guest speakers, every other month beginning this month, and hold a networking mixer every other month beginning in February. Both the breakfast and networking meetings are typically held on the third Thursday of the month.
