In the first Jacksonville Community Council Inc. “Issues & Answers” session of the year, Circuit Court Judge Karen Cole led a discussion on surrogate parents, their vital role in foster children with disabilities’ education advancements and the process in becoming such an advocate. The mission to recruit and educate interested parties on the need for such surrogate roles is a passion of Cole’s, who has spoken before numerous groups on the topic. “These are some of our most at-risk children,” said Cole in her presentation. “They face so many challenges.”
