Two of the area’s major homebuilders won the top honors in the annual marketing and design competition sponsored by the local homebuilders association.
Lennar and CornerStone Homes took the major Laurel Awards, a presentation of the Northeast Florida Builders Association, at a breakfast Friday at the University of North Florida’s University Center.
Lennar won the Grand Award and the Miami-based company’s division president, Barbara Moore, took the Dick Baker Memorial Award for service to the industry.
CornerStone Homes won the Golden Service Award, also for support to the industry.
Merchandising Plus led the merchandising awards and several other Lennar employees took individual awards.
Merchandising Plus, a marketing company owned by Rita Williams, received six Laurels for work in various developments including Heritage Park, Villages of Tuscany and Laterra Links.
Among the other marketing winners were Chandler Designs and Sisler Johnston, both with three Laurels.
In addition to Moore taking the Baker Award, Lennar had the Sales Manager of the Year, Michael Carlo, and the Marketing Director of the Year, Walter Hawkins.
Diana Dilallo of Wells Fargo Home Mortgage won Lender of the Year and Morgan King of Standard Pacific Homes was named Rookie Sales Person of the Year.
The Site Agent of the Year went to the Mattamy Homes team of Susan Paul and Jason Crenshaw.
The PARC Group won Developer of the Year for Nocatee, the giant city-to-be that straddles the Duval and St. Johns county lines.
Bailey Publishing’s Realty/Builder Connection was named the Best Industry Related Publication. The other print media Laurel went to Florida Homebuyer Jacksonville for the Best Consumer Publication.
Moore is a past president of the Jacksonville Association of Realtors, now the Northeast Florida Association of Realtors, and has chaired SMC.
Before her appointment at Lennar Homes in 2008, Moore held similar positions at Beazer Homes in Jacksonville, Ashton Woods Homes in Houston, Tex., and Pulte Homes Corp. and The Ryland Group, both in Greenville, S.C.
Lennar was founded in 1954 and builds in 17 states, primarily in California and Florida. In this area, communities include OakLeaf Plantation, Nocatee, Heritage Park, Lexington Park and Johns Creek II.
CornerStone, owned by Cliff Gray and Mark Downing, is building numerous neighborhoods including Austin Park at Nocatee, Doctors Inlet Reserve, Eagle Harbor, Eagle Landing, GroveWood at World Golf Village, Hunter Oaks, Kensington, RiverTown and Rolling Hills.
