• Jacksonville-based Signet Development has been tapped by Advanced Particle Therapy LLC to serve as the lead developer for the new Scripps Proton Therapy Center in San Diego. Jacksonville-based Haskell will provide design/build services. Construction on the $185 million project starts this month and the first patient treatment is expected in February 2013.
• NCC Business Services of America Inc. leased space for its corporate office at Baywood Center in Baymeadows. The office will support the company’s Jacksonville, Phoenix, Cleveland and Louisville call centers. Broker Duke Addison represented NCC and Bert Smith of Grubb & Ellis/Phoenix Realty Group represented landlord KBS Realty Advisors.

• Kind words for the city from a newspaper in Canada. After a visit, music columnist William Littler of the Toronto Star wrote July 2 that he “made a point” of attending the final subscription concert of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra’s current season. “Situated in North Florida, far from the fleshpots of Miami and Fort Lauderdale, Jacksonville may not loom large on the musical map, but I encountered here a lively arts scene.”
