Booktique, the store for gently used books at the Main Library, has a new look for the summer. Crowley Maritime donated several hardwood bookcases and the entire store has been re-merchandised.

The books with a Florida theme have been moved to the front of the store and the children’s section has been redesigned to appeal more to young readers, said Sharon Futch, executive director of the Friends of the Jacksonville Public Library and manager of Booktique.

Volunteers who are Friends members work in the store and sell library books that have been taken out of circulation as well as books that have been donated to the organization. Profits from the store support library programs.

Futch also said the buy-one, get-one-free of equal or lesser value fiction sale has been extended for the summer. “That’s when so many people read a book, especially while on vacation or at the beach,” she said.

Prices range from $1-$6 for paperbacks and hardcover books.

Booktique is near the Laura Street entrance to the Main Library. It’s open 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 1-5 p.m. Sunday.
