About 200 City and business leaders took part Tuesday in the annual City Council appreciation lunch by the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce at the Omni.

Council President Richard Clark and President-Elect Jack Webb kept to the schedule and briefly offered their views of the past and coming years.

“We’re in difficult times,” said Clark, who said he maintained focus on his beliefs in “smaller government, less taxes and personal freedom” during his year at the helm.

Webb, who takes office July 1, said City leaders were working on collective bargaining and pension cost controls and he also pledged attention to economic development and infrastructure.

“Jobs, jobs jobs,” he said. “That’s what it’s all about.”
