• The JEDC Sports & Entertainment office announced Zeke Bratkowski and Knox Culpepper from the University of Georgia and Scot Brantley and Wilber Marshall from the University of Florida as the 2010 inductees into the City’s Georgia/Florida Hall of Fame. The inductees will be recognized at the Hall of Fame Induction ceremony Oct. 29 during the festivities surrounding the long-standing football rivalry between Georgia and Florida, or Florida-Georgia, depending on your leaning.
• Mayo Clinic Florida in Jacksonville ranked high in two patient surveys. One is a new federal government survey and the other is a commercial survey many institutions use for quality improvement. The government survey found that 85 percent of patients who had overnight stays at Mayo Clinic Florida ranked their experience as a 9 or 10 on a scale of 0–10, surpassing the national average of 65 percent and the Florida average of 59 percent for hospitals in the state. In the second survey, Mayo Clinic topped all hospitals (219) nationwide in inpatient survey outcomes conducted by Professional Research Consultants Inc. Mayo Clinic was awarded PRC’s highest honor, the Top Performer Award, for achieving the highest score for Excellence in Overall Quality of Care.
