• The Jacksonville Zoo and Gardens is offering a buy one, get one free deal for Father’s Day. Dad can get in free with the purchase of a regular admission ticket on Sunday by printing a coupon from www.jacksonvillezoo.org

• Mayor John Peyton will meet with Sheriff John Rutherford June 30 to discuss the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office budget. City Council member Jack Webb will be sworn in by then as Council president and will also attend.

• Republicans Rick Scott and Bill McCollum filed campaign papers Thursday, officially launching what is certain to be a big spending primary contest for governor, reports the News Service of Florida. Scott was the first to file at the state’s Division of Elections. He was followed a half-hour later by McCollum.

• The Early Learning Coalition of Duval will be closed for four days beginning today to move. Effective Tuesday, the coalition will open at 8301 Cypress Plaza Drive, Suite 201, near Butler Boulevard and Philips Highway. ELC of Duval will also extend its service hours to 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Visit www.ChooseQualityChildCare.org.

• Jacksonville hotels are offering summer deals during the Jacksonville Summer Savings Sale. Book a summer vacation through June 23 for hotel discounts up to 50 percent off accommodations for travel dates throughout the summer. • The Sulzbacher Center named Maxine Engram as child development program manager. She worked with the Sulzbacher Center for almost two years after retiring as ESE and Student Services Coordinator for K-8 Northside Schools with the Duval County schools. Also, Sarah Buchman was named children’s services coordinator. She has eight years of experience working with families living in poverty.

• Correction: Duval County Court Judge Russell Healey attended the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association annual judicial reception last week. His name was incorrect in Monday’s Daily Record.
