Fourteen middle and high school students who are living with their parents at the Sulzbacher Center visited City Hall Friday. The center serves homeless men, women and children.

The students met Mayor John Peyton and took a guided tour by Jacksonville Historical Society Executive Director Emily Lisska.

After explaining what the mayor does and how City government works, Peyton opened the floor for questions and there were several. “What’s the coolest thing you’ve done as mayor?” asked one youngster.

“Riding in a limo with the President of the United States and I’ve done that twice,” answered Peyton. “It’s a rolling bunker and probably the safest place on the planet.”
