• Interior designer Janice Roberts Young, principal of Janice Young & Associates, was inducted as a Fellow of the American Society of Interior Designers. She’s one of 12 architects and interior designers worldwide to be named as a Fellow in ASID and also of the International Interior Design Association.

• Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Inc. opened a Florida Blue retail center in The Markets at Town Center, the third Florida Blue center in the state. It focuses on helping consumers understand their health care coverage and needs.

• City Council member John Crescimbeni is sponsoring a proposed ordinance that would amend Council rules regarding election of officers. Proposed Ordinance 2010-501 would prohibit a candidate for president-designate from running for vice president-designate. This exact scenario unfolded recently as Council member Stephen Joost decided to oppose now City Council President Jack Webb, but lost and, later, was elected vice president.

• In other Crescimbeni news, he was selected by Council President Jack Webb to chair the Jacksonville Waterways Commission.

• Retail real estate broker Geneva Henderson predicts it will be late 2012 before the economy improves substantially. “Perception is reality. I have several friends who are unemployed and it’s not a recession, it’s a depression.” One might lose his house, “and he’s in that age group where an employer can get two employees” half his age at half his salary.
