Future chefs compete at Hyatt

Gary Polletta (center), owner of Edgewood Bakery, was one of the judges Friday for the Skills USA culinary competition at the Hyatt. More than 70 public school students from nine North Florida counties took over the kitchens at the hotel and displayed their talents in the areas of commercial baking, culinary arts, food and beverage service and customer service. Another group of students participated in a similar competition at Florida State College at Jacksonville’s Downtown campus.
