Local businessman Chris Ackerman will take a 10-hour drive to Nashville on Monday to help some friends. The flood-ravaged area is trying to recover and Ackerman wants to fill up his Chevy Tahoe with supplies needed in the relief effort. The Salvation Army is asking for cleanup kits of mops, brooms, work gloves, masks, sponges, rubber gloves, bleach, all-purpose cleaner, trash bags and paper towels. The Red Cross is accepting monetary donations through www.redcross.org. The Nashville Humane Society is asking for donations of dry dog and cat food because of the displaced animals. Collection boxes are set up at Maverick’s at the Landing and the Law Office of Maggie Jo Hilliard at 60 Ocean Blvd., Suite 60, in Neptune Beach. Donations will be accepted today and Saturday at Saucers at 2640 Cesery Blvd. Ackerman can be reached at 710-9434 and [email protected].
“I just want to help,” said Ackerman. “I know they would do the same for me.”
