Preparations are well under way for the holiday schedule of events at the Landing. In addition to the annual stringing of the lights around the property, some more serious improvements are also taking place.

A section of the west breezeway (above) near Hooters and Sports Mania is being removed to make way for the installation of an improved drainage system to correct the puddles that sometimes form in the area. The project is expected to take about three weeks, depending on precipitation.

Landing Public Relations and Marketing Coordinator Blakeley Ainsworth said in addition to stringing thousands of lights along the Riverwalk, the assembly of the Christmas tree in the courtyard will begin Monday. The tree will be illuminated during the traditional celebration Nov. 26 and the City’s annual Light Parade in the river is set for Nov. 27.
