• Mayor John Peyton and City Council President Jack Webb, along with executives with Cornerstone, the economic development arm of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Atlantic Way, the Irish counterpart to Cornerstone, are scheduled to sign a memorandum of agreement between Atlantic Way, Cornerstone and the City at a 9 a.m. Wednesday ceremony at City Hall, followed by a ribbon-cutting event for an Atlantic Way office within the Jacksonville Economic Development Commission. Atlantic Way represents the Shannon, Limerick and Galway regions of Western Ireland.

• The Jacksonville Port Authority Awards Committee will meet Wednesday to consider contracts for approval, including a proposed contract of nearly $2 million for engineering design services and engineering support during construction for the rehabilitation of wharf structures at Blount Island Marine Terminal Berths 30-35. HDR Engineering is the proposed contractor.

• A breakfast meeting featuring “A Vision for Jacksonville” is scheduled Dec. 8 at the St. Joe Building in Riverside. City Planning and Development Director Bill Killingsworth and Bernard Zyscovich, managing principal of Zyscovich Architects, are the speakers. • The Supreme Court Judicial Nominating Commission reported five applicants for the position of Statewide Prosecutor: Nicholas Bernard Cox, Tampa, regional director, Department of Children & Families; Haccord J. Curry Jr., Fort Lauderdale, assistant general counsel, Florida Department of Juvenile Justice; Andrew S. Hague, Miami, County Court judge; Jeffrey D. Swartz, Coral Gables, Miller Kagan Rodriguez & Silver; and Joseph D. Zager, Fort Lauderdale, assistant state attorney. They will be interviewed Dec. 9. The commission will nominate no fewer than three people to the attorney general, who will make the appointment for a four-year term, to be served concurrently with the term of the attorney general.

• The Women’s Center of Jacksonville sent a “save the date” card for its 2011 Speaker Series, called “Women, Words & Wisdom,” at Theatre Jacksonville. Former U.S. Ambassador Nancy Soderberg is scheduled for Feb. 1, retired Rear Adm. Marty Evans is scheduled March 22 and children’s advocate Gertrude Peele is on the agenda for May 10. • The 25th Annual Women In Business Awards luncheon is set for March 21 at the Hyatt Downtown featuring keynote speaker Delores Kesler, whose home-based staffing business grew into MPS Group, recently bought by Zurich-based Adecco. Among her other work, Kesler chairs Jacksonville-based PSS World Medical. Women Business Owners of North Florida will present awards in the categories of Entrepreneur of the Year, Franchisee/Franchisor of the Year, Corporate Leader of the Year and Pioneer of the Year.
