Gary Garrett is one of 43 local and regional artists who are participating in “Paint the Region” this week. The subject of this year’s annual art event, sponsored by the North Florida Land Trust, is Downtown and its surrounding historic neighborhoods.

Garrett set up his easel and brushes on Hogan Street Monday to capture the early morning light reflecting off the Wachovia Building and The Omni Hotel. His painting and many others are on exhibit at the Paint the Region Gallery at the Landing near the Toy Factory. It’s open from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. through Sunday and all the paintings are for sale to benefit the artists and the North Florida Land Trust.
