• Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida will be hosting two seminars regarding new federal tax credits created by health care reform law. The seminars will be Oct. 19 from 2–3 p.m. and Oct. 28 from 3– 4 p.m. at The Florida Blue Center, the company’s standalone health care store, within The Markets at Town Center. Officials from H&R Block will be on hand to consult business owners on the credit being offered to businesses with less than 25 full-time employees who earn an average of $50,000 or less annually and pay 50 percent of their employees’ health premium. • Update from Wednesday: Mayoral candidate Alvin Brown’s third quarter and total monetary fundraising efforts have been updated. In quarter three, he raised $31,181 for a total of $96,606.

• The Jacksonville Bar Association Trust and Probate Law Section has changed the date of its next luncheon. It will host members and guests Oct. 28 at noon at the River Club.

• The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is seeking a program coordinator for the treble, choir, concert choir and chamber choir. The position is responsible for managing the nonmusical aspects of the upper level choirs. For information about job requirements, go to www.jaxchildrenschorus.com.

• New opening: The latest Big Lots store will open at the Oakleaf Town Center at 9625 Crosshill Boulevard at 8:30 p.m. Nov. 5. As part of the grand opening celebration, Big Lots will donate $2,500 to Enterprise Learning Academy.

• The Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce is hosting a rally Oct. 22 from 4-6 p.m. Downtown at the Landing to garner support against Florida’s Constitutional Amendment 4 on the Nov. 2 ballot, which would require a referendum for every proposed comprehensive land use change. The public is invited to attend.

• Another Amendment 4 note: State Rep. Daniel Davis is scheduled to speak about the proposed constitutional change at tomorrow’s meeting of the chamber’s Downtown Council. It’s at 8 a.m. at Currents Riverfront Bistro in the Aetna Building on the Southbank. Nonmembers are welcome. For info visit www.downtowncouncil.org.

• A film written and directed by Circuit Court Judge Jeff Morrow, using local talent and settings, is one step closer to the big screen. “FINS- The Movie-Trailer” can be seen on www.youtube.com. A premiere date has not been set.

• Following the progress of the City’s Ethics Bill? It will be discussed Monday at 10 a.m. in council chambers by the Rules Committee and Tuesday at 10 a.m. by the Finance Committee in conference room A in the office of the City Council on the fourth floor of City Hall.
