The second floor of the Blue Fish Restaurant and Oyster Bar in Avondale was humming with the sounds of networking at the annual opening reception for the Jacksonville Women Lawyers Association Sept. 14.
Founded in 1982, the association was created to provide support and networking opportunities for women lawyers in Jacksonville. JWLA membership is open to all attorneys, male or female, in Jacksonville and surrounding counties.
“We are looking forward to an exciting year for JWLA,” said Lindsay Tygart-Havice, president of JWLA. “We will feature speakers at our monthly luncheons at The River Club that will not only help us develop as lawyers, but also as professionals.”
The association will host Olympian Shannon Miller on Oct. 13 and Ch. 12 news anchor Donna Deegan on Nov. 10 for the first two monthly luncheons.
The association also looks forward to developing partnerships with other organizations. JWLA partnered with The Jacksonville Bar Association Young Lawyers Section to host a happy hour at Mark’s after Friday’s swearing in of new lawyers at the Duval County Courthouse.
