Oscar Barnett, personal chef Donna Harden and Liam Barnett were serving waffles Wednesday at Barnett Jewelers in Independent Square. It was their way of saying thanks to customers and preparing for some real Belgian waffles.
The Barnetts leave today for a five-day trip to the Antwerp Diamond Exchange in Belgium. They’ll purchase inventory for the store and for other jewelers.
Liam Barnett said they’ll be buying stones of all sizes that were mined in Russia, Canada, Australia and South Africa, but he won’t be boarding the return flight with a briefcase handcuffed to his wrist.
“The diamonds we buy will be very securely shipped to us after we leave Antwerp,” he said.
