• Robert H. Rowe was promoted to director of clinical education at Brooks Rehabilitation. Rowe has worked with many of the organization’s clinical education initiatives, including the expansion of the clinical post-graduate residency and fellowship programs; the growth of both internal and external clinical education courses; and has been a facilitator in the development of a revised therapy student program.
• The Diocese of St. Augustine plans a news conference at 10:30 a.m. today to announce the name of its next bishop. The conference will be at the Catholic Center along Old St. Augustine Road. Pope Benedict XVI will announce from Rome the appointment of the 10th bishop of the diocese, who will succeed Bishop Victor Galeone. Galeone submitted his letter of resignation when he turned 75, the mandatory age of retirement for bishops, on Sept. 13. Galeone will introduce the new bishop and make a statement at the news conference.
• Naval Air Station Jacksonville Emergency Operations Center Director Ray Edmond and Manager Tolitha Perez monitor Hurricane LANT One movements Tuesday as part of the HURREX/Citadel Gale 2011 hurricane preparedness exercise Monday through May 3. Base personnel are participating in the exercise to prepare to respond to weather threats. HURREX/Citadel Gale 2011 involves two simulated storm systems developing and intensifying to hurricane strength, threatening the Caribbean Islands, East Coast and Gulf Coast regions. No aircraft movements will be associated with the exercise.
