How did you get involved?
Much of my recent community involvement has been the result of my becoming international chair for the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce, a position in which I have served for the past seven years.

How can someone else get involved?
For anyone interested in helping make Jacksonville a more international city, I recommend joining the World Affairs Council, GlobalJax and/or the International Committee of the Jacksonville Regional Chamber of Commerce.

What have you learned/achieved through the experience?
I was born in Jacksonville, and I am often made aware that Jacksonville is a better place than it was when I grew up here, primarily because of the companies that have come to Jacksonville with leaders who have had international responsibilities and experience, because of those in the armed services who retire or leave the service and decide to stay in Jacksonville, and because of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Super Bowl. I have had the opportunity to facilitate Jacksonville’s branding as “America’s Logistics Center” and to be part of the development of a “Regional Freight, Logistics and Intermodal Development Plan” to maximize the potential of our port.

What was the last book you read or are reading?
“The Devil in the White City” by Erik Larson.
