The roundabout replacement at the foot of Laura Street in front of the Landing is nearing completion.

Bill Joyce, the City’s chief of engineering and construction management, said that two crews are working on laying the granite Belgian block cobblestones and placing grout between the stones.

He said the reason the work site has been deserted for the past several days is that the crews are working from 11 p.m.-6 a.m. in order to avoid the high temperatures.

Joyce said the project is on schedule, even a little ahead of schedule, to be completed the first week of September, when vehicle and pedestrian patterns can return to normal.
