Mayor Alvin Brown accepted the resignations of nine City employees, including Jacksonville Economic Development Commission Executive Director Ron Barton, the mayor’s office confirmed this morning.

One of the nine, Deputy Chief Administrative Officer Derek Igou, has civil service reversion rights.

Another of the nine, Special Assistant Dan Kleman, will retire Sept. 30.

Communications Director Abel Harding provided a list:

• Barton, whose last date of employment is Sept. 30.

• Igou, whose last employment date as deputy CAO is Aug. 26.

• Kleman, who retires Sept. 30.

• Chris Sutton, community outreach for boards and commissions, whose last date is Aug. 26.

• Jacqueline Brown, administrative aide, whose last date is Sept. 30.

• John Crofts, deputy director of planning and development, whose last date is Aug. 26.

• Annette Davis, deputy director of Central Operations, whose last date is Aug. 26.

• Dan Macdonald, public information officer, whose last day was Wednesday.

• Harlan Stallings, public information officer, whose last day was Wednesday.

“Change is a standard part of any transition in city government,” Harding said in a statement.

“During the transition, as has been the case for previous mayors, appointed officials were asked to submit letters of resignations. Some of those resignations have now been accepted. Out of respect for the individuals involved, we will have no further comment other than to say Mayor Brown greatly appreciates the hard work of City employees,” he said.
