The new Duval County Courthouse opens for business May 29, according to David Schneider, the City’s senior project manager. “Everyone moves May 18-29,” he said. Fourth Judicial Circuit judges were notified Tuesday that the moving process will begin at 4 p.m. May 18 and continue through May 29 and that the courthouse functions will re-open for business at 8 a.m. May 29. The existing courthouse is at 330 E. Bay St. and the new facility sits between Pearl and Broad streets near Adams and Monroe streets. Judges were asked to not set trials, hearings or other matters that period, although emergency matters will be heard as needed. Arraignments will be passed on to the following week.
