Chief Circuit Judge Donald R. Moran Jr. was visited by a group of firefighters last week – and they were bearing a gift.

Moran was presented a chief’s helmet with the designation “Chief Judge.”

Jacksonville Association of Firefighters IAF Local 122 President Randy Wyse said the helmet was presented in recognition of Moran’s consistent leadership on issues and because his grandfather was the fire chief in Johnstown, Pa.

His father, Donald R. Moran Sr., was the fire chief at NAS Jacksonville and helped develop the fire departments at Naval Air Station Cecil Field and Naval Station Mayport.

“We just wanted to show our appreciation for Judge Moran’s leadership and for all that he does. He’s the chief judge – he needed a chief’s helmet,” said Wyse.
