The 4th Circuit Judicial Nominating Commission sent six names to Gov. Rick Scott to fill an opening created by the upcoming Dec. 31 retirement

of Circuit Judge Haldane Taylor.

Commission Chairman Wayne Alford said after interviews for the seat Monday that the nominees being sent to Scott are County Judges Roberto Arias and Tyrie Boyer; 8th Circuit Chief Assistant Public Defender Alan Chipperfield; Nassau County Attorney David Hallman; Harvey Jay of Saalfield, Shad, Jay, Lucas & Stokes; and Michael Sharrit of Terrell Hogan.

“These are all highly qualified candidates for the Circuit Court and we are very proud to send these names to Governor Scott,” said Alford, of the Alford Law Group.

The commission will meet Sept. 9 to interview applicants for a Duval County judicial opening that has been held by Judge Kevin Blazs, who Scott appointed to the circuit bench to replace the late Judge Jefferson Morrow.
