• Tetra Tech Inc. has hired Joey Duncan as a senior manager to support its commercial energy and infrastructure service lines. Duncan is a former Public Works director for the City and project manager at JEA. Tetra Tech provides consulting, engineering and technical services to commercial and government clients in resource management and infrastructure.
• The sound of a ringing cell phone in public meetings can be commonplace, but during the City Council Finance Committee on Tuesday it was a tie making holiday music. Joe Whitaker, Jacksonville Economic Development Commission business recruitment and retention coordinator, was at the podium speaking to the committee when his tie began playing the tune to “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.”
• City Hall will take part tonight in the last First Wednesday Art Walk of the year. Mayor Alvin Brown will host the City Hall Holiday Open House scheduled 5-8 p.m. The stop will include holiday music and refreshments.
• Also at Art Walk tonight: Hemming Plaza Jewelers is hosting a fundraiser for the Duval Art Teachers Association; Hemming Plaza will feature Downtown’s historic church choirs performing holiday music; AT&T Tower 301 is featuring holiday music by the Northeast Florida Conservatory; and Snyder Memorial will have dueling pianos.
